Ever wonder what a typical day looks like for our adorable Cockapoo and Cavapoo puppies here at Dreamy Night Doodles? It’s a busy, structured day filled with careful nurturing, essential learning, and, of course, plenty of play! Our routine is designed to create a clean, safe, and stimulating environment that helps our puppies grow into healthy and well-adjusted companions before they join your family.
Early Morning: Rise, Shine, and Potty
The day begins early in our puppy nursery. As soon as the puppies start to stir, it’s time for their first potty break in their designated area. This reinforces their natural instinct to keep their sleeping space clean. After the potty break, their bedding is completely changed with fresh, clean linens, and the entire whelping box is sanitized. Then, it's time for a warm, delicious breakfast and some gentle cuddles with us.
Mid-Morning: Play, Learn, and Explore
Once their bellies are full, the puppies are ready for their first enrichment session of the day. This is when we introduce them to new sights, sounds, and textures. Depending on their age, this might include:
Playing with new toys (like crinkly tunnels, soft balls, or chew-safe items).
Hearing new sounds from a safe distance, such as a radio, a vacuum cleaner, or children playing. This desensitizes them to everyday household noises.
Walking on different surfaces like grass (weather permitting), a wobble board, or different types of blankets to build confidence.
Afternoon: Nap Time and Quiet Socialization
Growing is hard work! The afternoon is punctuated by long, peaceful naps. Like human babies, puppies need a lot of sleep for healthy development. In between naps, we have quiet one-on-one time with each puppy. This includes gentle handling—touching their paws, ears, and mouths—to prepare them for future vet visits and grooming. It’s a calm, positive experience that builds their trust in humans.
Evening: Winding Down and Family Time
As the day winds down, the puppies have their dinner and more opportunities for gentle play. This is often "family time," where they interact with us and get lots of affection. We make sure playtime isn't too rowdy before bed. After one final potty break, they snuggle up together with their littermates in their clean, warm bed for the night, dreaming of another day of adventure.
This loving, structured routine is the foundation of their early life, ensuring that when they make the journey to your Salem, NJ home, they are healthy, happy, and ready to be loved.
